The team works with vet referrals and their discharge recommendations to tailor rehab programmes to the individual needs of the horse.

Top class facilities, including an equine pool (details below) are all available on site. The spacious walker, with room for 8 horses, has rubber flooring and is on a huge circle to assist in the horses recovery process.

Equine Pool

Ivy House Stables equine pool offers a fantastic training aid in all areas of equine care - with swimming to replace work or to assist in recovery from injury.

The equine pool is located inside the American-style barn which also boasts spacious stables, indoor arena, horse walker and a solarium. The pool itself is circular and this enables each horse to do continuous exercise (depending on physique and fitness). Each individual session is tailored to the horse's swimming ability and fitness level.

The pool has a three pump filtration system with drip fed chlorination to keep the water clean and clear. It has a maximum depth of 12ft and PH and chlorination levels are checked three times a day to ensure the water is safe.

Solarium

After the swimming session the horse is treated in the solarium where infra-red lights are used to dry off, which is an enjoyable experience and a well-earned rest with the heat on its back. Most importantly the radiant heat energy penetrates the skin into the underlying muscle tissue and helps stimulate blood circulation. This improves muscle elasticity thereby helping to reduce time to recover from injury.
